Frontenacs Battle Back to Beat the Petes 6-5 in OT

The Kingston Frontenacs won a wild 6-5 overtime game over the Peterborough Petes in the first afternoon affair of the 2020-21 OHL season at Leon's Centre as Kingston erased three two-goal deficits to take the two points. Rookie Matthew Soto had two goals and Lucas Edmonds scored his team leading 8th in extra time for the comeback win. Captain Shane Wright and Martin Chromiak each had four-assists in the comeback win.

After going down 2-0 in the first, Kingston maintained their composure falling down 3-1, and 4-2 before taking a 5-4 lead into the final minute on three straight third period goals by Soto (2) and Maddox Callens. The Petes were able to push the game to OT with their net empty, tying the game 5-5 with 17 seconds left. The Frontenacs showed resiliency and earned a huge division win to get within two points of the division lead.

Former Quinte Red Devils product Donovan McCoy earned an assist and is from nearby Belleville, ON. The Fronts have now taken all six team-points so far with a third win versus Peterborough.

Matthew Soto commented after the win: "We stuck to our game plan and came out with two points in a great effort by the team." The forward is now tied for the OHL scoring race with 13 points. "I don't really think about that stuff," said the rookie," its great, but I just think about winning and playing hard as a team."

Maddox Callens added his fourth goal totalling four points (2G,2A) in three games versus Peterborough.

Frontenacs forward Jordan Frasca remains on the injured list after a puck to his mouth

Rookie Matthew Soto (9) is two points back of Ty Nelson for the OHL rookie assist lead (11)

Shane Wright (4G,6A) and Martin Chromiak (4G,8A) have points in five-straight games

Forwards Matthew Soto and goaltender Mason Vaccari were both named for the Under-17 Capital City Challenge on November 26 in Ottawa.

On Saturday, Nov 13, Kingston hosts Mississauga Steelheads at 3:00pm. A very special tribute to the late legendary OHL coach/manager Larry Mavety is themed for the game.
