Owen Sound Attack News Release

The results finally showed for the Owen Sound Attack's hard work, as they earned a big 4-1 win over the visiting Kitchener Rangers Saturday night at the Bayshore. The win gave the Attack three out of four points over their two games this weekend.

"If we just keep putting in the effort that we do in practice, I think the results will show," said rookie centre Cedrick Guindon. "We just have to keep the foot on the pedal each game and keep pushing."

Attendance looked back to normal at the Bayshore, as the building was full of energy the Attack came out firing and really pressed the play. The home team was rewarded with their effort early as rookie Colby Barlow worked his way into the slot in time to receive a pass from Servac Petrovsky and bury it in the empty net.

The Rangers were able to even the score late in the period as, a Mike Petizian shot deflected off of a shin pad in front and found the back of the net. The Attack pushed to regain their lead but were unable to cash-in before the buzzer.

The Bears came out in the second period hungry for goals, as they hemmed the Rangers in and continued to push. A reward finally came when a Guindon knuckle puck from the high slot went off Rangers goalie Jackson Parsons shoulder and rolled into the net. It was the young centres second goal of the season and restored the Attack's lead.

Less than a minute later, it was captain Mark Woolley who displayed a set of soft hands, as he worked his way through the slot toward the Ranger's goal. Woolley worked his way right tight beside the goal, before feeding Barlow in front for the rookie's second of the game.

Going into the third period with a two goal lead, the Attack were not content to just sit back, as just three minutes into the period, Nolan Seed made a strong, confident move down the side wall, before finding Stepan Machacek on top of the crease. The assistant captain ripped home his sixth of the season to increase Owen Sound's lead to 4-1. From there on goalie Mack Guzda shut the door as the Rangers tried to create havoc and preserved the win for the Attack.

"Seeing that packed crowd tonight was awesome," said Nolan Seed. "It was great that we could reward the fans with a big win tonight."

The win was big after Owen Sound earned a point from an overtime lose to London the previous night.

Owen Sound will look to build off the strong weekend as they will travel to Kitchener for Friday night before welcoming Guelph to the Bayshore on Saturday.
