
Fretter Named ECHL Rookie Of The Year

The ECHL announced today that Gladiators forward Colton Fretter has been named the ECHL Rookie of the Year.
Fretter becomes the second Gladiator to be named the ECHL Rookie of the Year joining Kevin Doell, who won the award during the 2003-04 season. The award is presented annually to the player selected as the most proficient in his first year of competition in the ECHL as voted by the coaches of the ECHL teams.
The Harrow, Ontario native currently leads ECHL rookies in scoring with 66 points off of 36 goals and 30 assists. Fretter also leads all rookies and shares first on the Gladiators in power play goal with 18 on the season. In addition, his 36 goals is a new Gladiators team record for goals in a season.
Fretter represented the Gladiators at the 2007 ECHL All Star game in Boise, ID where he posted the game-winning goal for the American Conference squad in a 6-3 win.
He was selected the eighth round with the 230th overall pick by Atlanta in the 2002 National Hockey League Draft and is currently under contract to the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League.
