April 7, 2007 - ECHL (ECHL)
Victoria Salmon Kings News Release

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Manitoba Moose and the Vancouver Canucks, corralled the Roadrunners in the first two periods of game two of the series, and reeled in their eighth straight win with a 4-1 victory in front of a season-high 5,349 crowd at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.

Derek Krestanovich tallied his ninth goal of the season and gave Victoria a 1-0 lead at 1:28 into the first period. Team assist leader F.P. Guenette passed to Krestanovich who cut across the crease from left to right and slipped the puck five-hole on Netminder Mike Morrison. Victoria outshot Phoenix 16-2 after one period.

Victoria nabbed the 2-0 advantage as Kiel McLeod earned his 32nd goal of the season. Patrick Coulombe caught the Roadrunners on a line change and carried the puck along the right wing. His drop pass fell onto the stick of McLeod and he handcuffed Morrison at 6:06 into the second period. After the Salmon Kings silenced three consecutive Phoenix powerplays, Darryl Lloyd posted his tenth goal of the season for the 3-0 lead, reeling in a deep pass by Defenseman Paul Ballantyne and scoring on the breakaway.

The Roadrunners were held scoreless, until with 1:23 remaining in the third, winger Tommy Maxwell battled the puck out of the left corner and spotted Jeff Kyrzakos in the slot for his 11th goal of the season. After Phoenix pulled the goaltender, Milan Gajic settled the score after a Bridges' save was thrown along the right boards and Gajic found the empty net from just across the red line.

Final: 4-1 Salmon Kings

ECHL Rookie of the Month for March, Bryan Bridges, notched his 14th win of the season and sixth straight win as a starter. Morrison suffered his 12th loss. Neither team scored on the powerplay as Victoria was 0 for 5 and Phoenix was 0 for 4. The Salmon Kings outshot the Roadrunners 41-33. Victoria (35-32-1-3) hosts its final game of the regular season and third game of the series versus Phoenix (27-39-2-3) tomorrow starting at 7:05 p.m. (PT) at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.
