
MacDonald's 39 Saves Propel Falcons to Sixth Place Finish

Fresno, Calif. - Ryan MacDonald made 39 saves to help the Fresno Falcons clinch sixth place in the National Conference standings despite a 1-0 overtime loss to the Idaho Steelheads on Saturday in front of 6,575 fans at Save Mart Center.
Neither team was able to get on the scoreboard in the first period despite a combined six power-play opportunities between the two clubs. Idaho out-shot Fresno by a 10-7 margin in the opening period.
MacDonald, and his Idaho counterpart John Daigneau, continued the scoreless tie through two periods, with MacDonald making 13 saves in the period, and Daigneau turning aside nine shots.
The Falcons clinched the sixth spot in the National Conference as the game remained scoreless through three periods.
In the overtime, Idaho's Tuomas Mikkonen put the rebound past MacDonald to give Idaho the 1-0 win at the 4:35 mark.
The Falcons open the Kelly Cup Playoffs on Tuesday, taking on the Bakersfield Condors at Rabobank Arena with face-off set for 7:00 p.m. Catch all of the play-by-play action on 1550 Sporting News Radio starting with the Port of Subs Pre-Game Show at 6:45. Fresno's first home game of the series is game two on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
