Fresno Falcons News Release
LAST WEEK: Fresno went 2-1-1 last week splitting a pair of games with Idaho with a win and an overtime loss. Fresno won against Stockton on Friday night and lost to Bakersfield on Saturday night. The Falcons are 8-4-1 for seventeen points and are in first place in the Pacific Division. The Falcons are sitting in fourth place in the league overall.
Tuesday November 11 @ Idaho FALCONS 5 Steelheads 4
Fresno won the first of a two-game series against Idaho. For the fourth consecutive game, Fresno opened the scoring with a power play goal by Mike Radja who was reassigned to Fresno by the Rockford Ice Hogs of the AHL on Tuesday. Dustin Sproat notched an assist, tallying his first professional career point. Mike Radja scored the game winning goal at 11:54 on a breakaway to put the Falcons up 5-4.
Wednesday November 12 @ Idaho FALCONS 3 Steelheads 4 (OT)
Unlike last night, the Steeheads score first on a goal by Steve Gainey. Fresno tied the game on a 5-on-3 goal by Matt Stefanishion, his team leading eighth goal of the season. Neither team was able to break the tie in regulation and the teams headed to overtime. Idaho's Kris Sparre scored the sudden death overtime goal to give the Steelheads the win.
Friday November 14 vs Stockton FALCONS 5 Thunder 4
The Falcons scored quickly just :15 seconds into the game with a goal by Jarrett Konkle. The Falcons never trailed in the game keeping the pressure on Stockton to play from behind. Falcons leading scorer Matt Stefanishion had another stellar night scoring 2 goals and 1 assist for three points on the night. Oren Eizenman had two assists to add to his outstanding performance since returning to the Falcons. Goaltender Joe Fallon was perfect in the shootout stopping 5-of-5 shots.
Saturday November 15 vs Bakersfield FALCONS 1 Condors 2
The Falcons, who have played four games in five nights, were unable to score until Josh Prudden found the back of the net at 5:15 of the third period to put the Falcons on the board. The Falcons played strong offensive hockey in the third period and pulled goaltender Michael Ouzas in the final minute, but were unable to even up the game, suffering their first loss this season to a division rival and their first loss at home since returning to Selland Arena.
