Aces Off To Best Start Ever

It will be a showdown for first place in the West Division when Alaska travels to Victoria for games on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

The Aces swept their weekend series with Utah to extend their winning streak to four games and improved to 7-0-1 in the last eight games to climb into first place in the ECHL with 21 points and a 10-2-1 record. The Salmon Kings have won their last three games and are in second place in the West Division with 15 points and a 7-6-1 record.

Victoria has won the last two meetings to improve to 7-12-3 all-time at home against the Aces. Alaska is 30-9-4 overall against the Salmon Kings and 15-4-3 at Victoria.

Alaska leads the league on the penalty kill with 91.5 percent (65-for-71) and is third in scoring with 3.69 goals per game and goals-against average with 2.31. Victoria is fourth in the league in goals-against average with 2.57 and they are second in home power play percentage with 27.6 percent (16-for-58).

Cam Keith leads the league with 14 assists and is tied for eighth in scoring with 16 points while Colin Hemingway is tied for fourth in the league with 11 assists and 18 points. Josh Soares, who was called up to the American Hockey League by Peoria on Friday, is tied for second in the league with 10 goals and tied for sixth with 17 points.

Aces rookie Jean-Phillipe Lamoureux has played every game and is 10-2-1 with a goals-against average of 2.20. Lamoureux leads the league in wins (10), minutes (790) and saves (405) and he is tied for the lead with two shutouts. Victoria's Jonathan Boutin is tied for the lead with two shutouts and is 5-2-1 with a goals-against average of 2.40.

Alaska's Matt Shasby leads ECHL defensemen with 13 points and is second with four goals and nine assists while Victoria's Dylan Yeo is second among league defensemen with nine assists and is tied for second with 11 points.



Gladiators Help Boost Attendance

More than 20,000 for games on Friday and Saturday in Gwinnett and the second sellout of the year in Elmira on Friday helped the ECHL raise its average attendance to 4,155 per game.

The weekend also saw Florida draw over 12,000 fans for two games against Augusta while Charlotte had 6543 for its game against Mississippi and Ontario welcomed 6,271 for a game against Stockton. Victoria had almost 9,000 for two games against Phoenix and Alaska had over 14,000 for a weekend series against Utah.

The Gladiators had 9,614 on Friday and 11,072 on Saturday. It is the eighth time in the last three years and the 12th time in history that Gwinnett has drawn over 10,000 fans, including four sellout crowds of 11,355. Elmira led the league in 2007-08 with 14 sellouts, including seven consecutive sold-out crowds on Saturdays from Dec. 15, 2007-Mar. 1, 2008.

Stockton leads the ECHL with 8,216 per game, including their 13th sellout on Nov. 8, which is up 23.6 percent from last season when they led the league with 6,648 per game. The Thunder have finished first in attendance the last three seasons, becoming the first team to lead the league for three consecutive years since Florida was first for a record five straight years from 2000-05.

Cincinnati has the sixth-largest crowd in team history with 6,596 on Nov. 8 and they have raised its average attendance by 23.6 percent to 3,107 per game. The Cyclones led professional hockey in 2007-08 by increasing their attendance by 36.8 percent.

Augusta has raised its attendance by 14.7 percent to 3,251 per game while Gwinnett is up 10.3 percent to 6,240. The Gladiators are trying to raise their average attendance for the fourth consecutive season while the Lynx are trying to increase their average for the second year in a row after seeing a 10.9 percent increase in 2007-08.

Bakersfield has raised its average attendance by 9.1 percent to 6,138 per game while Dayton has seen a 3.3 percent increase as the Bombers try to raise their average for the fourth year in a row.



American Conference - South Division

Augusta Lynx
* Mike Brodeur made 47 saves in 1-0 shootout loss at Florida on Friday.
* Augusta plays four of its next six games at home.
* Lynx host Florida on Friday and Saturday and Dayton on Sunday.

Charlotte Checkers
* Checkers play six of their next seven games at Time Warner Cable Arena
* Rookie Matthew Ford leads Charlotte with six goals, 12 points and a plus-minus rating of +5.
* Checkers host South Carolina on Wednesday and Gwinnett on Sunday.

Florida Everblades
* Everblades are second in the ECHL on the penalty kill with 90 percent (72-for-80) including 95.0 percent (38-for-40) in the last six games.
* Florida leads the league with a goals-against average of 2.09.
* Everblades play at Augusta on Friday and Saturday.

Gwinnett Gladiators
* Gwinnett leads the league with 42.5 shots per game.
* Jordan Fox leads the team with 10 points and he is tied for the team lead with seven assists.
* Gladiators host Dayton on Wednesday and Mississippi on Saturday before traveling to Charlotte on Sunday.

Mississippi Sea Wolves
* Mathieu Melanson leads the team with eight assists and 15 points and is tied for the team lead with seven goals.
* Ryan Cruthers is tied for fifth among league rookies with seven goals and is tied for sixth with 13 points.
* Sea Wolves play at South Carolina on Friday and Sunday and at Gwinnett on Saturday.

South Carolina Stingrays
* Stingrays have won season-high five consecutive games including four in a row on the road.
* Steve Pinizzotto has a three-game goal streak (3g) and a five-game point streak (4g-2a).
* Stingrays play at Charlotte on Wednesday and host Mississippi on Friday and Sunday and Dayton on Saturday.

American Conference - North Division

Cincinnati Cyclones
* Cincinnati leads the league with 24 first-period goals.
* Olivier Latendresse has a four-game goal streak (4g) and a six-game point streak (7g-1a).
* Cyclones host Wheeling on Friday and Saturday.

Dayton Bombers
* Justin Bowers has an eight-game point streak (4g-9a).
* Dayton is 6-1-0 on the road, outscoring their opponents 25-16.
* Bombers play at Gwinnett on Wednesday and Friday, at South Carolina on Saturday and at Augusta on Sunday.

Elmira Jackals
* Steve Yetman had a hat trick, scoring the game winner with his third goal, in 7-6 win over Cincinnati on Friday.
* Elmira is fifth in the league on the penalty kill with 86.5 percent (64-for-74).
* Jackals play at Trenton on Friday and at Reading on Saturday.

Johnstown Chiefs
* Chiefs lead the American Conference and are second in the ECHL with 20 points (10-4-0).
* Kris Mayotte is 6-1-0 and ranks third in the league with a goals-against average of 2.12.
* Chiefs host Reading on Friday and Trenton on Saturday.

Reading Royals
* Reading is 2-0 in the shootout and Royals goaltenders have stopped all 10 shootout attempts.
* Shawn Snider leads the team with eight assists and 12 points.
* Royals play at Johnstown on Friday and host Elmira on Saturday.

Trenton Devils
* Devils are the least-penalized team in the ECHL at 16.5 PIMs per game.
* Defenseman Ryan Gunderson has 11 points (2g-9a) and all have been scored on the power play.
* Devils play at Wheeling on Friday and at Johnstown on Saturday while hosting Elmira on Friday.

Wheeling Nailers
* Wheeling leads the league with 4.58 goals per game and is second on the power play at 24 percent (18-for-75).
* Tommy Goebel leads the ECHL with 20 points (7g-13a) while Rob Sirianni is tied for second with 19 points (8g-11a) and Nick Johnson is tied for fourth with 18 points (11g-7a).
* Nailers host Trenton on Wednesday and play at Cincinnati on Friday and Saturday.

National Conference - Pacific Division

Bakersfield Condors
* Condors posted back-to-back wins for first time this season with victories at Fresno and Stockton on Saturday and Sunday.
* Mark Derlago (2g-3a) has a four-game point streak.
* Condors play at Phoenix on Wednesday and Friday and host Phoenix on Saturday.

Fresno Falcons
* Kenny MacAulay and Oren Eizenman are tied for the team lead with eight assists.
* Matt Stefanishion leads the Falcons with 10 goals and 13 points.
* Fresno plays at Ontario on Friday and hosts Ontario on Saturday and Phoenix on Sunday.

Las Vegas Wranglers
* Wranglers scored season-high seven goals, including team record two shorthand goals, on Saturday against Idaho.
* Las Vegas is 0-4-1 on the road.
* Wranglers play at Phoenix on Tuesday and at Utah on Friday and Saturday.

Ontario Reign
* Jon Rheault (2g-5a) and Maxime Boisclair (1g-3a) each have a four-game scoring streak.
* Ontario is fifth in the ECHL in attendance with 5,603 per game.
* Reign play at Fresno on Friday and Saturday.

Stockton Thunder
* Stockton leads the ECHL in attendance with 8,216 per game.
* Andrew Perugini is 3-0-1 and tied for fourth in the league with a goals-against average of 2.14.
* Thunder play at Idaho on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

National Conference - West Division

Alaska Aces

Phoenix RoadRunners
* RoadRunners are is 3-0-1 in their last four home games.
* Phoenix is 4-0-2 in one-goal games and 5-0-0 when leading after the second period.
* RoadRunners host Las Vegas on Tuesday and Bakersfield on Wednesday and Friday before traveling to Bakersfield on Saturday and Fresno on Sunday.

Utah Grizzlies
* Grizzlies are 3-1-0 when scoring the first goal and 5-2-0 when scoring a power-play goal.
* Dennis Packard has five goals and nine points in his last seven games.
