Freedom Land Three on All-Star Team

July 5, 2012 - Frontier League (FL)
Florence Y'alls News Release

FLORENCE, KY - Three members of the Florence Freedom have been voted to represent the Frontier League East Division in Normal, Illinois for the 2012 All-Star Game on Wednesday, July 11.

Third baseman Chris Curley and catcher Jim Jacquot were voted as starters for the East, while shortstop Junior Arrojo was selected as a reserve.

Curley leads the team in almost every major category and is amongst the league leaders in all three triple-crown categories. In 42 games, Curley is hitting .356 with 10 home runs and 44 RBI.

Jacquot has been called "the best defensive catcher in the league" by his manager Fran Riordan. The St. Louis, Missouri native has appeared in 41 games and has compiled a .244 average to go along with four home runs and 23 RBI.

The final all-star Arrojo has been a catalyst for Freedom all-season long. Flashing unbelievable leather at shortstop, it's Arrojo's leadership and grind that gets the most applause. He's compiled a .404 on-base percentage thanks largely in part to being hit by 17 pitches already this season. Last year, Arrojo set the Frontier League record for hit-by-pitches in a single season with 34.

The Freedom currently sit at 25-19, one game back of the Southern Illinois Miners for a wild-card spot in the playoffs.

The 2012 Frontier League All-Star game will take place in Normal, Illinois at the home of the Normal Cornbelters and the Corn Crib on Wednesday, July 11 at 7:30 pm (Eastern).
