Lake Erie Crushers News Release

Avon, Oh- Yesterday, the Frontier League announced that Lake Erie's Paul Fagan and Russell Moldenhauer will be headed to Normal, IL next week to participate in the All Star Game and Festivities. Today, it's been announced that the Crushers will send a third member of the team to Normal.

Closer Jonathan Kountis has been chosen by the All-Star coaching staff for the East Division, led by Gregg Langbehn from the Traverse City Beach Bums.

Kountis has been absolutely lights out for the Crushers this season. In 18 appearances, Kountis has given up just 2 earned runs on the season. He has 30 strikeouts in 27.1 innings pitched, and ranks 4th in the Frontier League with 8 saves. Kountis has faced 111 batters on the season, only 15 of which have gotten at hit.

Kountis is in his first season with the Crushers, taking over the closer's role from last year's star Ruben Flores. It has taken him very little time to establish himself as one of the premier back-of-the-bullpen pitchers in the Frontier League.

The 2012 Frontier League All-Star game will take place in Normal, IL on July 11, 2012. For ticket information, visit the Normal Cornbelters' website at http://www.normalbaseball.com/.
