Bakersfield Condors News Release
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors return to the Mercy & Memorial Hospitals Home Ice at Rabobank Arena riding a 12-3-1 record over the past 16 games to take on the Utah Grizzles for back-to-back games on Friday and Saturday night. Doors open at 6 p.m., puck drops at 7 p.m. both nights.
Friday vs. Utah - Youth Jersey Giveaway:
On Friday, the first 2,000 fans, 12-and-under, will receive a #10 Matt Pope youth jersey, courtesy of KGET-TV 17, La Preciosa 105.3 and McDonald's. Not everyone can score like Matt Pope, but now your kids can suit up like him with their very own replica jersey of the Condors leading goal-scorer. Make sure to purchase your tickets in advance and arrive early for Youth Jersey Giveaway, as these 2,000 jerseys won't last long!
Saturday vs. Utah - Brontos Jersey Raffle and Auction:
Free Jersey Weekend continues on Saturday with the 'What Could Have Been' Jersey Off Our Backs Raffle and Auction, sponsored by KUZZ 107.9 and Bud Light. Game-worn Bakersfield Brontos jerseys will be auctioned off after the game, plus everyone in attendance has a chance to win one of five jerseys to be raffled off for free! The "Brontos" team name finished as a finalist along with the name "Condors" 11 years ago. All proceeds from the jersey auction will be donated to the Petroleum Shrine Club.
Intermission Fun:
During the first intermission of Friday's game, one lucky fan will get to compete in the PF Chang's Find Your Fortune, where a contestant will be blindfolded and search for a $100 PF Chang's gift card on the ice. Then three contestants will compete in the Cheapsk8ter.com Skateboard Luge, as Colonel Claw'd, Baby Cal and Slapshot race the young fans down the ice on skateboards.
During the second intermission on Friday, one lucky fan will be able to Shoot the Puck, Win the Truck, for the Condors one-of-a-kind 2008 Chevy Silverado, complete with Condors customizations, courtesy of 3-Way Chevrolet. If that contestant doesn't win, then one fan will be drawn at random to win the truck if a Condors player nets a hat trick (3 goals) all in the third period. Three times during the win the truck contest a Condors player has scored two goals in the third period, coming very close to sending a fan home in a new ride!
On Saturday, the Bakersfield Blades figure skating group will perform for the crowd's enjoyment. Then the Condors will present Links for Life with a check for $38,748, the amount raised over the course of the Hockey-Thon.
During the second intermission Saturday night, one toss can win you up to $400 in Chuck-a-puck! And don't forget that the first two Brontos jerseys will be given away during the second intermission. Stick around after the game for the auction and for the other three jerseys that will be raffled off.
Saturday night's game will be televised live on Bright House Networks Ch. 21. All televised games will be available on Bakersfield On Demand Cable Ch. 300, starting the following day.
