Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
CINCINNATI, Ohio - The 2008 Kelly Cup champion Cincinnati Cyclones announced today that they have signed forward Adam Krug to a contract. The club also learned that it will receive defenseman Frederic St. Denis from Hamilton (AHL). In a separate transaction, the Cyclones have also dealt a pair of players to the Utah Grizzlies in exchange for future considerations. The Cyclones are the ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators.
Krug, 25, signed with the Cyclones at the conclusion of the 2008-09 season for Adrian College. The Bulldogs missed out on an NCAA Division III postseason berth despite posting a 27-1-1 record. Adrian College won its final 26 games of the season to capture the Midwestern Collegiate Hockey Association's regular season and tournament titles. Adam was the third-leading scorer in NCAA Division III hockey (netting the most by any senior player) with 22 goals and 30 assists for 52 points in 28 games.
The five-foot-eleven, 170 pounder from Livonia, MI began his college career at Wayne State (2004-05) and played two seasons with the Tartars, collecting 18 goals and 24 assists for 42 points in 67 games. After Wayne State discontinued Division I hockey, Krug transferred to Adrian and was a two-time All-MCHA selection and a two-time All-Academic choice. During 2007-08, Adam was the MCHA Player of the Year after turning in a 30 goal, 47 assist, 77 point effort in 29 contests. He was also selected as a West Region All-American.
Krug practiced with the team this morning and are expected in the lineup for this weekend's (March 13 and 15) games at Johnstown and Trenton. Friday's game will be aired on MAX-FM (97.7 and 99.5) beginning at 6:45pm.
For the fourth time this season, defenseman Frederic St. Denis has been assigned to the Cyclones by the Hamilton Bulldogs (AHL). Hamilton is the 'AAA' affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens. The 23-year old native of Greenfield Park, QC has played in 30 games with Cincinnati this season and has 20 assists and a team-best +15 plus/minus rating. St. Denis has played in seven games with Hamilton, netting a goal and adding an assist for two points.
With the ECHL's trading deadline coming on Friday afternoon, the Cyclones made their second deal of the week-sending rookie defensemen Brett Beauchamp and Chris Clark to the Utah Grizzlies in exchange for future considerations. Beauchamp appeared in 32 games between Cincinnati and Johnstown and had four assists. Clark had played in eight games with the Cyclones but did not register a point.
Tickets for the 2008-09 Cincinnati Cyclones season are now on sale. The Cyclones Sales Department can be reached at 513-421-PUCK, extension 3. The club is now offering Family Four Packs (four tickets, four hot dogs, four Pepsis, four Cyclones winter hats, four public skate passes at SportsPlus and a SportsPlus game card) for just $69!
