March 11, 2009 - ECHL (ECHL)
Trenton Devils News Release

TRENTON, N.J., (March 11, 2009) - The Trenton Devils will enter the weekend with just five home games remaining on its regular-season schedule. Fans attending the remaining home games will instantly notice the newest feature at Sovereign Bank Arena, a center-hung, high-definition scoreboard.

Friday, March 13 will mark a historic day in T-Devils history as the team will christen its new scoreboard at Sovereign Bank Arena. The high-definition scoreboard will be the fourth of its kind in the ECHL, joining Charlotte, Ontario, and Phoenix as the only teams to use a high-definition scoreboard.

"We are very excited to unveil this new state-of-the-art scoreboard to our hockey fans," Sovereign Bank Arena General Manager Jeff Schumacher said. "The look of the new board will be crisp and a huge improvement to the fan experience."

The unit will utilize the latest LED (Light Emitting Diode) technology. There will be two video displays at both ends of the arena, along with the main center-hung scoreboard with an LED ring at the bottom. The games will be produced in high-definition inside the arena with new HD cameras from Canon. The unit is state-of-the-art, much like the display at Newark's Prudential Center, the home of the New Jersey Devils.

The scoreboard is being installed while the Devils are on the road by Daktronics, a company that specializes in the design and installation of electronic scoreboards and video displays using LED technology.

"Daktronics is truly an innovator in the video board industry," Coordinator of Game Day Production Brett Piscopo said. "The system is set up to allow for the most flexibility you could ask for. It offers a whole new element to the game presentation. We can do much more with the new video panels than we could ever do with the old system."

In addition to the new scoreboards, there are giveaways and promotions planned through the conclusion of the regular season. Friday's game will feature a rally towel giveaway to the first 1,500 fans, courtesy of Stark & Stark.

Sunday, March 15 and 22 will be the final 4 for $48 Sundays of the season, as fans can purchase four tickets, four hot dogs, and four small sodas for $48 as the Devils battle for first place in the North Division against the Cincinnati Cyclones.

The first 1,000 kids to enter the game against the Cyclones on Saturday, March 21 will receive a Scorch Piggy Bank, courtesy of NJEA.

Finally, the Devils will conclude the regular season on Saturday, April 4 as they take on the Wheeling Nailers for Fan Appreciation Night. Various giveaways are planned as the Devils salute their fans for their ongoing support throughout the 2008-09 season.
