Fournier and Yetman Net Two, Jackals Fall 6-3

Elmira, NY- Steve Yetmans' two goal performance wasn't enough for the Elmira Jackals tonight as they fell to the Dayton Bombers 6-3 at First Arena in front of a crowd of 3,517. Dayton forward Andrew Fournier netted two goals and the Bombers added two empty netters in the final minute of play to pick up their 28th win of the season. Elmira and Dayton square off tomorrow night at 7:35 p.m. at First Arena to complete the triple header.

The first period stayed uneventful with no goals to report. Jackals goalie Michael Teslak turned away seven Dayton shots while Dayton keeper David Shantz stopped all 10 Jackals attempts.

The 0-0 tie didn't last long in the second period with Dayton getting the nights first goal at the 4:51 mark. Andrew Fournier from Les Reaney. The Jackals would strike back with back to back Steve Yetman goals. The first came at the 9:09 mark when Yetman back handed a Craig Switzer rebound top shelf. Mike Sgroi added to his 12 point in six game tear with an assist on the play. Yetman would strike again 14 seconds later to give Elmira their only lead of the game. Brian Ihnacak sent a pass to Kaleb Betts who fed the crashing Yetman. Yetman buried his own rebound five hole for his 23rd goal of the season. The Bombers would tie the game at deuces at the 11:19 mark when Justin Chwedoruk fired a shot that beat Teslak high blocker. The Jackals ended the middle frame with a 27-16 shot advantage.

The Bombers would open the third period with the 3-2 go ahead goal just 1:09 in. Fourniers' second of the game, fifth of the season. Elmira's Colton Yellow Horn would tie the game back at 3-3 when he made a fancy move that beat Shantz five hole. Brian Ihnacak and Pierre-Luc Faubert assisted on yellow Horns' third goal in two nights. With two minutes left in the third period Les Reaney would intercept an arrant pass and beat Teslak for the game winner. The Bombers added two empty netters in the final minute of play, Gaudet and Musitelli each netted their 10th of the year.

With the loss tonight the Jackals fall to 31-23-1-4 while the Bombers improve to 28-28-2-3.

NEXT UP: The Jackals return to First Arena on Saturday to complete the triple header with Dayton. The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a free Weiss Construction hockey puck. The opening face off is set for 7:35 p.m. The Jackals close out their four games in five nights schedule with a Sunday afternoon trip to Johnstown to take on the Chiefs at 2:35 p.m.
