Harrisburg Senators News Release
Cutter Dykstra provided the go-ahead RBI single and Ricky Hague added insurance with a three-run double in the eighth inning for the Harrisburg Senators in a 6-2 victory over the Richmond Flying Squirrels. 2,856 fans were in attendance for the Senators' victory on Wednesday night at Metro Bank Park.
Michael Taylor began the eighth inning with a walk and two batters later Dykstra punched an RBI single through the right side to break a 2-2 tie with the Flying Squirrels. Matt Skole and Jason Martinson provided walks to load the bases for Hague who laced a double into the right-center field gap to empty the bases. Skole (2-for-3, two RBI) put the Senators on the board first with a two-run double in the first inning. The Senators had only five hits, but walked eight times and were hit by two pitches.
John Simms pieced together a second straight fantastic outing on Tuesday night as he lasted 6.1 innings in which he allowed six hits and a run while striking out five. Tyler Herron relieved Simms by inducing a double play to end the seventh inning. Herron loaded the bases in the top of the eighth with nobody out, but allowed only a run to cross via a sacrifice fly while striking out the other two batters to end the inning. Robert Benincasa had two strikeouts in a scoreless ninth inning.
Tomorrow night, the Senators attempt to split the series with Richmond by sending James Simmons to the mound against the Flying Squirrels' Adalberto Mejia in a 7:00 p.m start. The game can be heard beginning with the pregame show at 6:45 p.m. on 1460 AM or via senatorsbaseball.com, 1460theticket.com or the iHeart Radio app.
The Senators box office is open Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tickets are available via telephone during the same hours as the box office hours. Tickets are also available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, online at www.senatorsbaseball.com.
