Fightins sunk by Fisher Cats

The Fightin Phils (34-47) struggled out of the gate against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (39-45) as they fell behind and couldn't rebound as they lost 7-1 on Wednesday night. Ryan O'Sullivan (2-5) made his first start since 2012 and earned the loss.

After an one hour rain delay the Fisher Cats took a 1-0 lead off Ryan O'Sullivan in the top of the 2nd inning as Michael Crouse hit a RBI single to score Cory Aldridge. New Hampshire extended their lead in the top of the 4th inning as Cory Aldridge hit a three-run home run off O'Sullivan to score Mike McDade and Andy Burns to take a 4-0 lead.

Ryan O'Sullivan pitched 3 2/3 innings in his start. He allowed four runs off seven hits with two walks and one strikeout. Reading got a run in the bottom of the 4th inning as Jake Fox hit a RBI single off Radhames Liz (1-1) to score Peter Lavin to cut New Hampshire's lead to 4-1.

Mike Nesseth tossed 1 1/3 innings in relief of O'Sullivan. He gave up one hit with two strikeouts. Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez made his Fightin Phils debut in the top of the 6th inning. He gave up one hit and one walk with two strikeouts.

Perci Garner made his first relief appearance and gave up three runs off two hits as the Fisher Cats extended their lead to 7-1. Mike McDade with a RBI fielder's choice and Cory Aldridge with a RBI single. Derrick Chung capped off the inning with a RBI single.

Seth Rosin tossed 1 1/3 innings in relief as he gave up one hit and one walk. Austin Bibens-Dirkx earned his first save of the season.

The Fightin Phils and New Hampshire Fisher Cats wrap up their series tomorrow night at 7:05 pm
