Foster, Australian for Shutout

Cincinnati Cyclones News Release

CINCINNATI, Ohio - Goaltender Brian Foster only needed to turn aside 17 shots as he led the Cincinnati Cyclones (9-9-0-3) to a 3-0 shutout of the Chicago Express (14-9-2-1) in front of 4,571 at U.S. Bank Arena on Saturday night. It was Foster's third-career professional blanking.

Cincinnati scored the game's first goal at the 8:53 mark as Garrett Wilson tipped home a Jeremy Klaver point blast to give the Cyclones a 1-0 lead. Thanks to some stingy team defense, Jarrod Skalde's team carried the one-goal edge into the first intermission after limiting the Express to just five shots on net in the opening frame.

Chris Cahill buried his fourth goal of the season at the 14:19 after a tape-to-tape pass from Mike Liambas, to extend Cincinnati's lead to 2-0 at the second intermission. The Cyclones continued to limit Chicago's opportunities in the middle stanza, holding them to just two shots in the entire period. It was the second-fewest shots that Cincinnati has allowed in a single frame all season long.

Chicago ramped up its scoring chances in the third period, throwing 10 shots on Cyclones goalie Brian Foster (W, 17 saves, 3-1-0). However, the second-year net minder was equal to the task, preserving a 17-save shutout. David Leaderer buried an empty netter with five seconds to go, capping off the Cyclones 3-0 win.

"I thought after what happened last night, I was very proud of the way the guys competed tonight," said Cyclones Head Coach Jarrod Skalde. "We really clogged up the front of the net, our defense closed gaps and got in shooting lanes. It was a great effort by everybody."

The Cyclones Radio Network Three Stars of the Game are as follows:
