
Edmonton Recalls Goaltender Olivier Roy from Thunder to Oklahoma City

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers and San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League, announced the Oilers have recalled rookie goaltender Olivier Roy (WAH, Oh-liv-EE-yay) from the Thunder to the Oklahoma City Barons of the American Hockey League.
Roy, 20, is tied for second in the ECHL with two shutouts this year in 14 games and has a 4-7-3 record, .912 save percentage and 2.75 goals against average. He earned the Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week award on Nov. 22 and was selected in the fifth round (133rd overall) by the Oilers in the 2009 NHL"ËEntry Draft.
Roy was ranked as the second highest North American goaltender by the Central Scouting Bureau before the draft.
The 6-foot and 180-pound goaltender was a member of Team Canada at the 2011 World Junior Hockey Championships and earned 14 shutouts, a record of 123-57-8, save percentage of .906, and goals-against-average of 2.77 in 200 career games with Cape Breton and Acadie-Bathurst of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
The Causapscal, Quebec native has three games of AHL experience with the Springfield Falcons, where he was 1-1-0 with a .913 save percentage and 2.57 goals-against-average in 2009-10.
