Paul Thompson Assigned to Nailers

Wheeling Nailers News Release


The Wheeling Nailers, AA affiliate for the Pittsburgh Penguins and Montreal Canadiens, have announced a player transaction effective immediately. Forward Paul Thompson had been assigned to Wheeling by the Pittsburgh Penguins, from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

Thompson, 23, is currently in the midst of his first full season of professional hockey, following a four-year collegiate career at the University of New Hampshire. In his senior year with the Wildcats last season, Thompson set career highs, scoring 28 goals and 52 points in 39 games. At the end of the year, he joined the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, with whom he picked up one goal and two assists in six regular season games. Thus far this season, the Methuen, MA native has appeared in 20 games, recording three goals, four assists, and seven points.
