Forney Selected to Replace Bendickon at ECHL All Star Game

Gladiators forward Michael Forney has been selected to replace Aaron Bendickson on the ECHL All Star Team as the Gwinnett Gladiators representative at the game.

Gwinnett suspended Bendickson as the Thief River Falls, Minnesota native had no alternatives and had to return to the University of Wisconsin in order to finish his degree within the University time frame of his athletic scholarship. He is two courses short of completing his degree. The current semester is the final semester he can complete his course work as part of his scholarship.

Forney makes his first ECHL All Star Appearance and currently ranks first in scoring on the Gladiators with 34 points (eight goals, 26 assists) in 36 games this season. He collected one assist in four games this year while with the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League before being assigned to Gwinnett on October 28th

Selected by Atlanta Thrashers in the 3rd round with the 80th overall pick in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft and under contract to NHL Atlanta, Forney earned 26 points (11 goals, 15 assists) in 63 games last year with the Gladiators. He also appeared in three games with AHL Chicago last year.

The Gladiators are the AA affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
