Fargo Force News Release
Tonight the Fargo Force honored fallen Fargo Police officer Jason Moszer with their "Heroes Are Never Forgotten Game." Support from the community was amazing as fans packed the stands selling out the game long before puck drop. The Force came into tonight coming off of a 3-1 win over Des Moines last Saturday.
Des Moines was looking for redemption as the Force worked to hang on to their fourth place play-off spot. The Force and the Buccaneers battled back and fourth throughout the first but neither was able to make it on the board.
Robbie Beydoun took the goal in place of Ryan Wischow in the second. Finally, at 4:37 Grant Meyer tapped in a pass from Denis Smirnov to take the lead 1-0, an assist on that goal also goes to Hank Crone. The Buccaneers were unable to answer back for the remainder of the second.
The Force entered into the third period shorthanded however, Des Moines was unable to capitalize on the power-play. The Buccaneers kept pressure on the Force throughout the third period, racking up a total of 41 shots on goal. to the Buccaneers dismay, goaltender Robbie Beydoun tremendously defended Fargo's net not allowing a single goal. With the 1-0 win over the Des Moines Buccaneers Beydoun picked up his second shutout of the season.
Head coach Cary Eades commented that Des Moines played really well and threw everything they had at them. They simply just weren't able to beat Fargo goaltenders Wischow and Beydoun. Eades also commented on the comfort there is in having such an outstanding back-up goaltender. Eades called Beydoun a "true teammate, who pushes Wischow every practice, and does everything asked of him. He is truly respected and loved by his teammates." With their win tonight the Force held on to their fourth place position and are only one point from moving up to third.
The Force are back at Scheels Arena to take on Des Moines once again tomorrow night at 7:05pm! Tickets are available at the Scheels Arena Box Office open Saturday at noon, on tickets300.com, or at the Tickets300 location on Broadway.
