Caps Return to Coliseum for UW Carbone Cross Check Cancer Night
March 11, 2016 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Madison Capitols News Release
Madison, WI - The Madison Capitols (20-23-4-3) will finally play a home game inside the Alliant Energy Center following 48 days away from the Coliseum, as they host the Sioux Falls Stampede (23-22-3-1) on Friday night for Cross Check Cancer Night with the UW Carbone Cancer Center.
The Capitols, playing just their second home game since Jan. 23, will wear specialty red jerseys. They will be auctioned post-game, with portions of proceeds going to the UW Carbone Cancer Center. Cancer survivors will also be honored during a pre-game ceremony.
The Capitols return home following a nine-game road trip that saw Madison put up a 4-3-2-0 record. Sioux Falls, on the contrary, enters the Coliseum sporting the USHL's worst road record, with just a 6-14-1-1 mark away from the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center.
The lengthy road trip preceding tonight's contest means that four Capitols will make their Alliant Energy Center debuts tonight, as newcomers Marshall Moise, Alex Robert, Chris Jones and Drew Hotte will skate on home ice for the first time as Capitols.
The Capitols are looking to snap a two-game skid after dropping a pair of games last weekend at the Covelli Centre against the Youngstown Phantoms by final scores of 4-2 and 4-1.
Tonight is the first of two meetings between the Capitols and Stampede in the span of just five nights. The two teams will complete their short season series on Tuesday night at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center for a 7:05 p.m. puck drop.
Overall, the Capitols will close the season with seven of the final ten games on home ice. On Saturday, March 12, the Caps host Youngstown, and the night brings about the return of four-legged friends to the Coliseum on Pucks N' Paws night, presented by Animart. Dogs will be permitted into the Alliant Energy Center on game night, and the first 100 pups will receive a specialty doggy goody bag!
