Las Vegas Wranglers News Release
Estero, FL - The Las Vegas Wranglers (2-1-0, 4 points) suffered their first defeat of the season on Saturday night, falling to the Florida Everblades (1-1-0, 2 points) 4-1 at Germain Arena. Florida's Steve Saviano and Chad Cabana each scored two goals and added an assist as Florida picked up their win of the season. Goalie Craig Kowalski made 23 saves for the win, improving to 3-0-0 against Las Vegas all-time. Las Vegas center Derek Edwardson picked up his third goal in as many nights, the only tally for Wranglers on the evening. Las Vegas will return home for a 7:05 pm game against the Phoenix Roadrunners on Friday, November 4th.
The game started off with a spark, with fights off both of the opening face-offs. The first battle featured Florida's Ernie Hartlieb and Las Vegas' Shawn Limpright. Off the ensuing face-off, Florida's Grant McNeil picked a fight with Wranglers' Kevin Bergin, a choice he was quick to regret. Bergin caught McNiel with an overhand right that knocked McNeil out cold. McNeil was unconscious for roughly a minute before being taken to the Florida locker room. The Everblades scored the first goal of the evening when Paul Cabana rifled a one-timer past Marc Magliarditi at the 15:05 marker, giving Florida a 1-0 lead. Las Vegas answered quickly with a power play tally. Center Derek Edwardson scored his third goal in as many nights with a snap shot from the right wing circle that beat Florida goalie Craig Kowalsky on the stick side at 17:04.
In the second, Florida's Steve Saviano snapped a shot from the left wing just 3:15 into the period, giving Florida a 2-1 lead. Saviano's power-play goal slipped through the pads of Magliarditi, helping the Blades take a one-goal lead into the final period.
In the third, Florida continued to poor it on with two more goals. Saviano added his second of the evening at 2:23 and Cabana scored 17 seconds later for the final score of 4-1.
Las Vegas will return home to host the Phoenix Roadrunners at 7:05 pm on Friday, November 4th. The Wranglers will hand out 5,000 magnetic schedules prior to the game.
Due to the aftermath of Hurricane Rita and its effects on the Texas Wildcatters professional hockey team, the Las Vegas Wranglers have made a change to their 2005-2006 schedule, adding a home game Nov. 4 and donating $5 for every ticket sold for this game to hurricane relief efforts. And, for each $5 donation made by the Wranglers, the Nevada law firm of Kummer Kaempfer Bonner Renshaw & Ferrario (KKBR&F) will match the amount, donating up to $15,000 for relief efforts.
Wranglers' ticket locations are the Orleans Arena Box Office, Coast Casinos' showroom box offices at The Orleans, Gold Coast, Suncoast and South Coast (opening in 2006) or at the Galleria Mall guest relations/ticket centers.
