Flames Carry Three Game Unbeaten Streak Into Holiday Week

Moline, IL- The Flames completed their first unbeaten week of the 2008-09 season with a pair of victories and a regulation point in a shootout loss last week. Quad City tied a franchise record with six goals in a win over Iowa last Tuesday. The team followed that effort by earning their first ever home ice win over Chicago on Friday night. The week was capped by a late Jamie Lundmark goal on Saturday night to earn a regulation point in a 5-4 shootout loss at Rockford.

This week, the Flames celebrate Thanksgiving with home games on Wednesday vs. Iowa and Friday vs. San Antonio. The team will also travel to Chicago for a re-match with the Wolves on Saturday. Specially priced tickets will be available for Wednesday's game courtesy of Galaxy 1 Marketing and McDonald's. On Friday, Mixed Martial Arts legend Pat Miletich will visit the i wireless Center as Quad City hosts San Antonio.

Monday, November 24th at 6:00 p.m.

The Budweiser Flames Forum airs on Monday night at 6:00 p.m. live from Bleacher Bums. Scott Allen, Brett Palin, Kris Chucko and John Armstrong will join host Aaron Roof. Fans in attendance will be eligible to win prizes from the Flames and Budweiser during the broadcast. The show can also be heard on 93.9 FM WYEC.

The Flames weekly television show "Between the Pipes" airs on Mediacom Connections Channel 22 each week. The show will feature highlights from the previous week's games along with player interviews.

Friday, November 28th at 7:05 p.m. at the i wireless Center vs. the San Antonio Rampage

Mixed Martial Arts legend Pat Miletich will be on hand as the Flames host San Antonio. It's also the kick off for the 2008 Toys for Tots campaign. Fans will receive $3.00 off the price of an individual ticket when they donate a toy at the game.

Tuesday, November 18th - Quad City Flames 6 at Iowa Chops 2

Quad City unleashed an offensive explosion on Tuesday while earning a 6-2 win over the Iowa Chops. The half dozen goals ties a franchise record for goals in a game. Six different scorers contributed in the effort. Carsen Germyn and Kyle Greentree scored on the power play, and David Van der Gulik scored the first shorthanded goal of the season for Quad City. A trio of skaters (John Armstrong, Peter Vandermeer and Cam Cunning) contributed even strength tallies. Armstrong's marker was the first of his professional career. The Flames dominated the first period on their way to a 3-0 lead. Carsen Germyn kicked the scoring off with a power-play goal at 1:39 of the opening frame. Germyn accepted a cross-ice feed from Anders Eriksson before whipping a one-timer into the Chops net. Ten minutes later, John Armstrong scored the first goal of his professional career off a goal-mouth scramble. Armstrong's tally came following a shot from the right wing circle by David Van der Gulik. Armstrong picked up the rebound and deposited it past Iowa netminder David LeNeveu to give Quad City a 2-0 edge. The Flames made it a 3-0 game with three seconds left in the period when Van der Gulik streaked down right wing during a Flames penalty kill. The Flames forward went around a Chops defender before breaking in alone on LeNeveu and scoring his fourth goal of the season. The shorthanded tally gave the Flames a three-goal cushion following a period in which they outshot the Chops 14-4. The Chops scored the middle period's only goal on a penalty shot. Petteri Wirtanen was hooked by Anders Erikksson during a shorthanded breakaway to set up the one-on-one showdown with Leland Irving. The Finnish forward beat the Flames rookie netminder for his second goal of 2008-09, with both tallies coming vs. Quad City. The Flames completed the win with a trio of goals in the third period. Kyle Greentree scored on the power-play at 1:12 of the third followed by a Peter Vandermeer even strength goal at 5:36. The Chops scored on the power play with 9:43 left in regulation as Drew Miller converted on a chance in front of the net. The tally snapped Quad City's streak of consecutive penalty kills at 29. The Flames capped the victory when Cam Cunning netted his second goal of the season on a one-timer following a feed from Jamie Lundmark. The tally tied a Flames franchise record for team goals in a game as the Flames set the final at 6-2.

Friday, November 21st - Chicago Wolves 1 at Quad City Flames 2

The Flames nabbed their first ever home ice win vs. Chicago on Friday night by a final of 2-1. Kris Chucko scored the game-winning goal midway through the third period while David Van der Gulik added a power-play goal in the second period. Leland Irving received first star honors as he extended his personal winning streak to four games by making 17 saves. The Wolves captured a 1-0 lead on the only goal of the first period. Jordan LaVallee scored a shorthanded goal at 4:49 of the period with assists going to Jamie River and Steve Martins. The Flames tied the game with a power-play goal at 6:01 of the second period. David Van der Gulik converted on a chance during a goal-mouth scramble to knot the score. John Armstrong and Dan Spang earned assists on the goal, and the tally stood up as the only goal of the middle period. Kris Chucko netted the game-winning goal with 9:34 left in the third period. Chucko sent a one-timer past Chicago's Dan Turple following a feed from defenseman Ryan Wilson. The tally stood up as the Flames continued to control the period following Chucko's tally. The Flames outshot Chicago 11-3 en route to Quad City's first ever home ice win vs. the Wolves.

Saturday, November 22nd- Quad City Flames 4 at Rockford IceHogs 5 Shootout

A wild Saturday night game in Rockford ended with the Flames suffering an exciting 5-4 shootout loss. Kris Chucko, John Armstrong, Peter Vandermeer and Jamie Lundmark scored in the game as Quad City overcame three separate deficits to earn a regulation point. The Hogs nabbed a 1-0 lead by scoring the only goal of the first period just 46 seconds into the frame. Pascal Pelletier scored off the rebound from a Petri Kontiola shot to put Rockford in front. The Hogs took a 2-0 lead when Jack Skille scored shorthanded following a Flames turnover at 4:50 of the second period. Quad City got on the board just past the midway point of the middle period. Kris Chucko scored by crashing the Rockford net and re-directing a pass from Kyle Greentree. Seven minutes later, John Armstrong scored by converting on a rebound chance. Armstrong's second tally of the season sent the Flames to the dressing room after two periods with the game tied at two. A wild third period feature a quartet of goals leading up to an overtime period. Rockford's Jack Skille opened the scoring when he potted a chance during a Hogs power-play to open up a one-goal edge. The Flames tied the game again when Peter Vandermeer scored at 10:37 of the third. The tally deflected over Hogs netminder Corey Crawford and a Hogs defenseman before going in. The Hogs re-took the lead when Bryan Bickell scored on a goal-mouth scramble just after a Rockford power play expired. The Flames answered back with 2:57 left in regulation when Jamie Lundmark scored on a shot from the circle. After a scoreless overtime, the Flames began their first shootout of the year. After allowing a goal in the first round of the shootout to Carsen Germyn, Crawford went on to deny the next four Flames shooters. Meanwhile, Matt Keetley stopped the first three Hogs shooters before allowing goals to Pascal Pelletier in the fourth round and Bryan Bickell in the fifth round. Bickell's tallied secure the win for Rockford as the Flames dropped their first shootout of the season.
