
Moose Sweep Rampage In Week Seven

The Manitoba Moose swept the San Antonio Rampage last week earning a 5-2 and 4-1 victory over the visiting club. Cory Schneider's Thursday night victory made franchise history as he earned his 10th consecutive victory, the most of any Moose goaltender. Mark Cullen earned his first hat trick of the season and Alexandre Bolduc netted a short-handed goal, the team's third of the season.
Thursday, November 20, 2008: Manitoba 5, San Antonio 2
The Manitoba Moose gave up the first goal of the night but answered with five to beat the San Antonio Rampage 5-2 in front of 6140 fans at the MTS Centre. Cory Schneider made franchise history with his 10th consecutive win, the longest of any Moose goaltender and Mark Cullen netted a hat trick to earn first star honours.
Friday, November 21, 2008: Manitoba 4, San Antonio 1
The Manitoba Moose swept their fourth home series in a row finishing on top of a 4-1 decision against the San Antonio Rampage in front of 7659 fans at the MTS Centre. Jason Jaffray netted two, Alexandre Bolduc and Mark Cullen each notched one and goaltender Karl Goehring stopped 18 shots to record his fourth win of the season.
Moose Notes
HAPPY AT HOME: Friday's 4-1 victory over San Antonio was Manitoba's eighth consecutive win at home. This already breaks the 2007-08 longest home-streak which was four games from Dec. 31 - Jan. 5/08. The franchise record for most consecutive wins on home-ice is nine from Feb. 3 - Mar. 10/07.
KILLING ON THE PK: In there past 11 games dating back to Oct. 29/08 at Quad City, Manitoba has allowed only six powerplay goals on 64 opportunities. In that time, the club has jumped to first in the AHL, killing their penalties 89.8% of the time. Manitoba's only PK hiccup in the past 11 games was on Nov. 8/08 at Syracuse, when the club allowed two powerplay goals on seven opportunities. Last season, the Moose finished 14th in the AHL by killing 83.6% of opponent powerplays. Last night, the Moose capitalized on two of their own powerplay opportunities bumping them from 22nd to 18th in the AHL at 15.3%.
SCHNEIDER IS A DIME: Thursday's 5-2 victory over the San Antonio Rampage was goaltender Cory Schneider's 10th consecutive win with the Moose this season. This breaks the franchise record, which ran for nine games from Feb. 17 - Mar. 28/08 also held by Schneider. With a record of 10-1-0, 1.37 GAA and a 0.945 SV %, the second year tender sits in first place above all AHL goaltenders. So far, he has faced 273 shots and only allowed 15 goals. He also registered his first shutout of the season on Nov. 2/08 @ Peoria against the Rivermen (4-0 W).
Upcoming Opponent
The Moose host the Iowa Chops for the first time this weekend - a new opponent entering their first season in the AHL. The club's face-off for the first time on Friday, November 28 and then close out their series on Saturday, November 29th at the MTS Centre.
Player of the Week Nominee
Mark Cullen
Moose centre Mark Cullen is this week's nominee for Moose Player of the Week for the first time this season...This week, Cullen appeared in both Manitoba wins which ran the Moose record to 14-3-0-0 this season which is good for tops in the AHL's North Division... On Thursday, the Moose beat the San Antonio Rampage 5-2 thanks to a hat-trick by Cullen... Then on Friday, Cullen added another in Manitoba's 4-1 victory over the Rampage... As a result, Cullen now has eight goals this season along with eight assists to be second on the Moose in scoring... He is also second on the team in powerplay goals with four as he scored a pair of powerplay goals in Thursday's game... Cullen also finished the week with seven shots on net and was +2...
