Rochester Americans News Release
(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Americans have a busy holiday week as the team prepares for four games in five nights against North Division opponents.
Rochester's week begins Wednesday, November 26th, as it travels north of the border to take on the Toronto Marlies at Ricoh Coliseum. The 11:30 a.m. matinee game will be the third of eight scheduled meetings between the two teams this season and will be broadcast tape-delayed on SportsRadio 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and AHL Live. Fans can tune into the game starting at 7:00 p.m.
Rochester is 0-2-0 this season and is 10-18-0 all-time against the Toronto Maple Leafs' affiliate. Toronto is currently ranked fifth in the North Division standings with a 7-7-0-2 record and 16 points.
The Amerks return to home ice on Friday, November 28th for their only home matchup of the week as the Lake Erie Monsters make their first of three appearances to The Blue Cross Arena this season. The Black Friday contest is slated for a 7:35 p.m. faceoff and will be broadcast live on SportsRadio 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and AHL Live.
That night, in the spirit of Black Friday, the Amerks will kick off their first of two giveaways that will allow one lucky fan to take home a 42-inch Plasma Panel, HD Ready television. Fans that bring a receipt of purchase from their "Black Friday" shopping experiences (must be made in Rochester) can enter to win a chance to take home a new Plasma Television.
Fans can show their receipts and enter their name, email address, and/or phone number given at the guest services booth. The booth is located in the upper atrium of the arena. Fans can also show their receipts at the box office window on the day of the game to receive three dollars off the regular premium ticket price ($22.25).
Rochester went 3-2-0-1 last season against the Colorado Avalanche's affiliate. Lake Erie is currently in sixth place standing in the North Division with a 6-9-0-2 record and 14 points.
The Amerks close out their weekend with a pair of road contests, with the first coming in a divisional tilt with the Grand Rapids Griffins on Saturday, November 29th at Van Andel Arena. The 7:00 p.m. game is the first of eight between the two teams this season.
Rochester returns to Ricoh Coliseum on Sunday, November 30th for its second battle in five nights with the Toronto Marlies. Gametime is set for 4:00 p.m. Both contests will be carried live on SportsRadio 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and AHL Live.
The Amerks (2-15-0-1, 5 points) enter the week on the heels of a six-game losing streak after suffering back-to-back home losses to Toronto and Manchester last week. Rochester first dropped a 5-2 decision to the Marlies on Wednesday night and followed up with a 4-2 setback to the Monarchs Friday at The Blue Cross Arena.
Amerks captain and Irondequoit native Rory Fitzpatrick netted his first goal of the season against Toronto and second-year right wing Dan Collins supplied all the offense for the Amerks, scoring both Rochester's goals against Manchester to garner second star honors.
Second-year forward Kenndal McArdle (3+6) and rookies Michal Repik (4+5) and Jason Garrison (1+8) are currently locked in a three-way tie with nine points apiece for the team lead. Michael Duco remains the Amerks' top goal scorer, while Garrison's eight helpers are also a team-high. Second-year blueliner Jordan Henry leads the team with a plus-two rating through just eight games and is coming off a three-game point streak. Duco ranks first on the team and fourth in the AHL with 83 penalty minutes (PIM), with McArdle a distant second with 49 PIM.
