First Round Pick Ouellet Joins Sea Wolves

BILOXI, MS - The Mississippi Sea Wolves announced on Friday that they have signed goaltender Maxime Ouellet (WAH-let), who began the season playing for Red Bull Salzburg in Austria.

"I'm really excited to be joining the Sea Wolves," stated Ouellet. "I'm happy to be able to return to North America, and I'm looking forward to being a part of this team in the run for the playoffs."

A native of Beauport, Quebec, Ouellet was drafted in the first round (22nd overall) by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft. Ouellet made his first appearance in the National Hockey League for the Flyers in the 2000-01, where he appeared in two games, posting an 0-1-0 record in 76 minutes of action. In 10 career NHL appearances with Philadelphia, Vancouver, and Washington, the 6-2, 195-pound goaltender had posted a record of 2-6-2 with a 3.07 goals-against average and a save percentage of .904. Ouellet appeared in two games for the Kassel Huskies of the German Second Division.

In 206 American Hockey League games with Hershey, Manitoba, Philadelphia, and Portland, Ouellet has posted an 81-88-26 record with a 2.53 goals-against average and a .919 save percentage.
