Johnstown Chiefs News Release

Dayton, OH - The Johnstown Chiefs lost for the first time in regulation in five games, dropping Friday's game in Dayton by a 3-0 score.

The Chiefs made things tough on themselves with Dayton jumping out to a 2-0 lead in the first period. League-leading scorer Yannick Tifu got the Bombers on the board when he stole the puck at the Johnstown blue line, raced in alone on Mike Brown, and scored on the backhand. Mike Berry jammed one in from in tight with the Bombers on the power play to add to the lead.

Ryan Reid provided the lone tally of the second period. A rebound came to Reid at the right point off of a blocked shot, and with Brown screened on the play the puck sailed in on the glove side.

Neither team was able to tally in the third period, but Johnstown controlled the action on offense for the entire 20 minutes, outshooting Dayton 14-2.

Mike Brown played well turning aside 22 of the 25 shots he saw from Dayton. The power play struggled, though, going 0-for-6 with the man advantage.
