Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs completed a three-game sweep of the Gwinnett Stripers with a 7-1 victory Thursday afternoon at Coolray Field.

Enyel De Los Santos (6-3) tossed eight innings of one-run ball while striking out seven. The eight innings of work are a season-high for the righty, who retired 24 of the 29 batters he faced including 12 of 14 after allowing a fifth-inning solo home run to Rio Ruiz.

After suffering back-to-back losses while giving up a combined total of four earned runs, De Los Santos got plenty of run support Thursday.

The Pigs plated runs in each of the first four innings against Gwinnett starter Max Fried (1-3). Joey Meneses got things started in the first with an RBI double to plate Collin Cowgill. One batter later, Trevor Plouffe brought Mitch Walding home with a sac fly to give the Pigs a 2-0 lead.

After adding one run in the second and third innings, the Pigs pushed their lead to seven in the fourth, scoring on an error, a sac fly and a solo home run by Meneses.

Cowgill finished the afternoon 3-for-5 with a pair of runs scored while Meneses went 2-for-5 with two RBI and his solo home run. Matt McBride went 2-for-4 as both he and Dean Anna extended their hitting streaks to six games.

De Los Santos helped his own cause, going 1-for-2 with a pair of sac bunts, his first professional stolen base and first run scored. On the mound, he has yet to allow more than three runs in any outing this season. De Los Santos boasts an IL-best 1.63 ERA and is the leading vote-getter among pitchers for the IL All-Star team.

After sweeping the Stripers in Gwinnett for the second consecutive season, the IL North-leading Pigs will travel to Charlotte to open a three-game series Friday at 7:04 p.m. The Knights took two of three from the IronPigs last week at Coca-Cola Park.

The Pigs return home on Monday, June 11, for an eight-game homestand against the Buffalo Bisons and Pawtucket Red Sox. The Pigs and Bisons will play a Monday-Wednesday with a Tuesday twin bill before the PawSox come to town for a four-game series that runs through the weekend.

The 2018 Season is the IronPigs' 11th season at Coca-Cola Park and 11th as the top affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies. Fans can get closer to the team than ever before with a Bacon, USA membership -- a year-round IronPigs experience pass featuring numerous amenities such as savings on parking at games and at the Majestic Clubhouse Store at Coca-Cola Park, on-field VIP access to watch batting practice, access to the annual holiday party, and more.
