PENSACOLA, FL - The Pensacola Ice Pilots concluded their 2006-2007 ECHL regular season on a positive note with a 5-4 victory over the Gwinnett Gladiators on Saturday night at The Hangar. Dan Sullivan netted the game winning goal with 9:50 remaining in the third period to snap a 4-4 tie. Dwayne Hay, David Wrigley, Derrick Byfuglien and Rob Rankin had the other goals. Goaltender Adam Geragosian won his first as a professional.
The Ice Pilots finished the regular season with a mark of 20-46-2-4 for 46 points. At The Hangar, the Blue and Gold concluded with a record of 12-19-2-3, while away from home they were 8-27-0-1.
FINAL PILOT POINTS: The Pensacola Ice Pilots finished 15th on the power play 73-469 and 15.6%. The Ice Pilots were ahead of five of the Kelly Cup Playoff participants including the South Division winning Florida Everblades. David Wrigley led the Ice Pilots with nine power play goals, while Sergei Ogorodnikov had 7 and Dwayne Hay notched six.
The Ice Pilots finished 23rd in penalty killing with a mark of 106-553 and 80.8%. The team had 11 shorthanded goals this season with David Wrigley leading the way with three.
Wrigley was first in team scoring with 24 goals and 38 assists for 62 points. Forward Rob Rankin was seventh among rookies with 16 goals 37 assists for 53 points.
Goaltender Michael Mole who was called up to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League on March 28, had a 13-18-2-1 record and a 3.95 Goals Against Average and a .900 save percentage. Two rookies notched their first professional wins in net with Ben Gray in mid-December and Adam Geragosian on the final night of the regular season.
The Ice Pilots were involved in 25 one-goal games where they finished 9-10-2-4 and when leading after 40 minutes the team was 16-4-0-1. Seventeen of the Ice Pilots 20 wins were recorded when the team was out shot by opponents.
