Kelly Cup Playoff Watch

Storm vs. the Natti! The first round of the 2007 Kelly Cup Playoffs begins with a match up of Ohio rivals Toledo and Cincinnati. The two teams played 10 times in the regular season with Toledo going 4-6-0 against the Cyclones. Toledo was 4-1-0 against the Cyclones at home this season. Games 1 and 2 will be at the historic Toledo Sports Arena, with both game times being 7:35pm.

Playing vs. Cincinnati! Chris Blight led Toledo against Cincinnati, scoring 5 goals while adding 4 assists for 9 points in 9 games. Team leader in points Matt Zultek scored 1 goal with 3 assists while appearing in all 10 contests vs. Cincinnati. Goaltender Logan Koopmans started 4 games vs. Cinci and had a 2-2-0 record , a 2.26 goals against average, and a .927 save percentage.

PLAYOFF NOTES

Clinching Home For the First Round! Toledo finished the regular season winners of 4 consecutive games and posted a 6-3-1 record over the final 10 contests. Toledo won 9 of 10 last year to clinch first place in the North Division. In 2004-05 the Storm went 6-4-0 to clinch a playoff berth.

When Last We Met! Toledo and Cincinnati have met only once before in the Kelly Cup Playoffs (2003). Cincinnati got the best of Toledo in that series knocking the Storm from playoffs 3 games to 1.

STORM TIDBITS

* Toledo finished the year 27-9-0 at home (Alaska 28).

* Toledo was 34-26-3 vs. the North Division.

* Toledo outscored opponents 62-55 in the first period.

* Toledo allowed just 6 shorthanded goals setting a new record.

* Toledo was 25-1-0 leading after two periods.

* Matt Zultek finished as the team leader in points (64), goals (27), and assists (37).

* Gerry Burke finished the season as a plus 10.

* Logan Koopmans finished with a career high 17 wins.

The team leader in scoring finished the regular season with a strong 2 goal, 1 assist effort on Friday and set up the tying goal in Dayton Saturday night with 56 seconds left.

STORM GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK:

Logan Koopmans (2-0-0, 1.00gaa, 0.976 save%)

Logan backstopped Toledo to back-to-back wins against Johnstown and Dayton. Logan set a new career high with 17 wins. He also set a new career mark with a .914 save percentage.
