Erie SeaWolves News Release
For the second straight day, the SeaWolves offense could not come through as they dropped their fourth in five games to the Bowie Baysox, 3-1, on Sunday afternoon at Prince George's Stadium.
Bowie jumped ahead in the bottom of the first inning against Erie starter Alfredo Figaro. Dave Krynzel drew a leadoff walk but was retired on a fielder's choice. With one out and Jonathan Tucker at first, Brandon Snyder stepped in. Tucker stole second and would come home on a Snyder double for a 1-0 lead. Mike Constanzo then singled home Snyder for a 2-0 lead.
In the bottom of the second, the Baysox would add a run. With one out, Joe Nowicki singled. With Guillermo Rodriguez hitting, Nowicki stole second and reached third on a throwing error. Rodriguez sent a sacrifice fly into left field, scoring Nowicki for a 3-0 lead. While it was early in the game, the three runs would prove to be enough on this day.
Erie's lone run came in the top of the fourth inning against Bowie starter Bobby Livingston. With one out, Cale Iorg and Deik Scram each singled, putting runners on the corners for Alex Avila. Avila sent a sacrifice fly to left, scoring Iorg, making it a 3-1 game. Livingson would end up going five innings, allowing just a run on seven hits with a walk and a strikeout to improve to 4-1.
Following the second, Figaro was stellar. He worked out a bases loaded jam with a double play in the third and worked out of a runners on the corners and one out jam with a double play in the fifth.
Figaro finished the day going seven innings, allowing three runs, two earned, on seven hits with four walks and five strikeouts. While not his best performance of the season, the Erie offense could not muster more than the lone run of support. The loss dropped Figaro to 2-1.
Erie left 10 runners on base in the game which is one off of a season-high. The club also went 1-for-15 with runners in scoring position.
