Aerodynamics...

Not Worth the Wait...Akron and Altoona waited through a 2:28 minute rain delay prior to game one of yesterday's scheduled doubleheader, and once the game started the Curve rolled to an 8-0 win. It was the first time the Aeros had been shutout in a month (dating back to April 16th), and marked the most lop-sided loss Akron has suffered all season. Starter Erik Stiller found immediate trouble as he surrendered a leadoff home run to Curve shortstop Brian Friday to cap a 10-pitch battle in the bottom of the first, and would go on to allow seven runs on eight hits in three-plus innings of work. Game two of the twin-bill was rained out and rescheduled as part of the doubleheader this afternoon.

Roster Move...The Aeros made another roster move today, as the Indians announced that RHP Randy Newsom has been traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates for a player to be named later and RHP Scott Roehl has been received from Class AAA Columbus. Newsom is the all-time and single-season saves leader in Aeros franchise history, with 48 for his career (including one this season) and 29 for the single-season mark in 2008. Roehl began the year in Akron but was promoted to Columbus April 21st. The native of Kenosha, WI is 0-0 with a 1.50 ERA in three appearances for the Aeros this season.

Did You Know...RF Matt McBride extended his hitting streak to five games last night with a second-inning double while LF Nick Weglarz finished 0-2 with a walk and saw his five-game streak come to an end.
