RHP Eric Wordekemper Transferred to Trenton

(Binghamton, NY)- The Trenton Thunder, Double-A Affiliate of the New York Yankees, have announced that RHP Eric Wordekemper has been transferred from Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (Triple-A) to Trenton.

Wordekemper was 1-0 with an 8.10 ERA in six games for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Wordekemper had allowed 13 hits in 6 /23 innings for the Yankees. He started the season with the Thunder and was 0-0 with a 0.00 ERA in three games. Last season, Wordekemper had a 3-2 record with a 3.93 ERA in 33 games (one start) for the Thunder, including six saves. He also appeared in two games for Tampa (High-A).

In 2007, he had a 2-0 record with a 0.57 ERA in 43 games for Tampa with 33 saves. Wordekemper led the Yankees in ERA, saves and games. He was named the Florida State League's "Most Valuable Pitcher" and earned a spot on the league's mid- and postseason All Star teams. Wordekemper appeared in one game for the Thunder that season and threw a scoreless inning to earn the save. He was originally selected by the Yankees in the 46th round of the 2005 draft out of Creighton University.

Trenton plays a double-header this afternoon against the Binghamton Mets (Double-A Affiliate of the New York Mets). RHP Ivan Nova (2-2, 4.13) will start for the Thunder against Binghamton RHP Ryan Coultas (2-1, 2.67) in the first game. In the second game, RHP Jason Stephens (0-0, 9.00) will start for Thunder against Binghamton RHP Tobi Stoner (1-0, 0.00). Trenton will return to Waterfront Park on Tuesday night to start a three-game series against the Akron Aeros (Double-A Affiliate of the Cleveland Indians).
