Fargo-Moorhead Rallies For 6-5 Win Over Explorers

Fargo, ND-----The Explorers saw a 5-0 lead get away in the fifth inning as Fargo-Moorhead sent nine batters to the plate in the fifth to tie the game at 5-5 and then pushed across the winning tally in the seventh as they defeated the Explorers 6-5.

Sioux City and Fargo-Moorhead split the four-game series with two wins each as the Red Hawks won the first and last games of the series while the Explorers won the middle two games.

Alberto Espinosa gave the Explorers a 2-0 lead in the second inning with a two-out two-run single. The Explorers would add two more runs in the third on a two-run home run by Peter Barrows, his seventh round tripper of the season. Bryan Pounds gave the Explorers a 5-0 lead in the fifth in on a RBI double. It was Pounds third hit of the contest.

However, in the bottom of the fifth Fargo-Moorhead would send nine batters to the plate and tied the game at 5-5 as Nic Jackson's two-run home run tied the contest.

The winning run by the Red Hawks came in the seventh inning on a two-out single by Jackson who finished the four-game series with eight RBI's. That winning run came off losing pitcher Jimmer Kennedy, who lost his first game of the year.

The Explorers will now open up a four-game series Wednesday with a single game at Sioux Falls against the Canaries. Game time will be 7:05pm.
