Laredo Lemurs News Release

Laredo, TX - The Laredo Lemurs (30-20) wouldn't need many runs tonight as starter Greg Wilborn (2-1) brought his best game in a 2-0 victory over the Newark Bears (14-32) on Tuesday night at Uni-Trade Stadium.

Wilborn earned his second win of the season, going six and two thirds, without giving up a run on six hits, with one walk, and five strikeouts. The six and two thirds for Wilborn was his longest outing of the season. Since coming off the disabled list he is 2-1 in four starts and has not allowed a run in two of the four outings.

Former Lemurs starter Leonard Giammanco pitched well, but earned his second loss in a Bears uniform since joining the team. Giammanco went seven complete, giving up two runs, on nine hits, with two walks, and five strikeouts.

The Lemurs offense saw Jimmy Mojica go three for four with an RBI. Palmer Karr Jr. and Mike Sheridan both posted a two for four day. Garrett Buechele went two for three and hit his first home run in a Lemurs uniform to give them a 2-0 lead after seven.

The Lemurs win gives them a sweep over the Newark Bears in the four game series and puts them at 7-1 in the month of July.

The Lemurs are on their longest home stand of the season with the El Paso Diablos, and St. Paul Saints coming to town through July 17th.

Single game tickets, season tickets, suite rentals, and group packages are on sale now. For more information, call the Lemurs' office at 956-7LEMURS or visit the Lemurs' official website.
