Lemurs Win Fifth in a Row

Laredo, TX - The Laredo Lemurs (29-20) put up six runs in the eighth to help them get comfortable in a 10-4 win over the Newark Bears (14-30) on Monday night at Uni-Trade Stadium.

With the Lemurs up 4-3 they came to the plate in the bottom of the eighth and erupted for six runs. Sawyer Carroll led off the inning with the walk, which was followed up by a John Alonso home run to left center to give the Lemurs a 6-3 lead. Alonso has homered in the last two games and has driven in seven runs.

Jimmy Mojica pitched in the eighth adding a double and three RBI to clear the bases and give the Lemurs a 10-3 lead going into the ninth.

Bradly Blanks (5-0) earned the win tonight for the Lemurs as he came in with two outs in the fourth in relief of starter David Newmann. Blanks threw one pitch getting the Lemurs out of trouble with a ground out to first. On the night blanks threw one a third, giving up one hit, with three strikeouts.

Bears starter Adam Gabel (0-2) took the loss, going three and a third, giving up four runs, on five hits, with two walks.

The Lemurs are on their longest home stand of the season with the Newark Bears, El Paso Diablos, and St. Paul Saints all coming to town through July 17th.
