Fan Appreciation Celebration Highlights Final Two Games
April 5, 2005 - ECHL (ECHL)
Fresno Falcons News Release
Fresno, Calif. - The Fresno Falcons will celebrate Fan Appreciation Weekend this Friday and Saturday, Apr. 8 and 9, at Save Mart Center as the team continues its drive toward qualifying for the Kelly Cup Playoffs by hosting the Long Beach Ice Dogs in a pair of games to finish the regular season. Both games begin at 7 p.m.
To honor the fans' support during the 2004-05 season, the Falcons will giveaway prizes throughout both games, including recliners, television/VCRs, t-shirts, Frisbees, CDs, DVDs, gift certificates and more.
Also highlighting the celebration will be the arrival of the Kelly Cup, which will be on display during both games as it makes its final stop on an 11-city, 51-day, 7,034-mile tour around the ECHL. The Kelly Cup is named in recognition of ECHL Commissioner Emeritus Patrick J. Kelly, who was one of the founding fathers of the ECHL in 1988-89. The coveted trophy stands 19-3/8 inches tall, weighs 25-3/8 pounds and is engraved with the names of players, coaches and support staff from the last eight ECHL champions. Although the Falcons need some help from the defending Kelly Cup Champion Idaho Steelheads in their games this coming weekend against the Bakersfield Condors, Fresno is still alive in the race for the final Kelly Cup Playoff berth out of the West Division.
The first 3,500 fans at Friday's game will receive both a free one-year subscription to The Sporting News and a Falcons Poster courtesy Dumont Printing, Carl's Jr., KSEE 24 and ESPN 1430. Also on Friday, departing Falcons General Manager Blaine Moore will be honored during the first intermission for his accomplished eight-year tenure with the team as player/assistant coach, head coach and GM that included the organization's only professional championship in 2001-02.
On Saturday, the first 2,500 fans will receive a Hockey Mr. Potato Head courtesy of Solutions Mortgage, Comcast and KISS Country. Following the game, the organization will recognize those players that accrued the most "Three Stars of the Game" points throughout the season as the Exclusive Sounds Three Stars of the Season.
Tickets are on sale for both games for as low as $8 per seat and may be purchased directly at the Save Mart Center box office and all Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at 485-TIXS (8497) or online at www.ticketmaster.com.
