9,280 In Fresno, Sellouts In Idaho Raise ECHL Attendance

PRINCETON, N.J. - Two sellout crowds in Idaho and a season-high 9,280 in Fresno helped the ECHL increase its average attendance to 3,965 per game.

The 9,280 at Save Mart Center on Saturday is the ninth-largest crowd in the ECHL this season and the Falcons had the 11th-largest crowd with 9,032 on January 29. Trenton had its second-largest crowd of the season with 7,508 on Saturday while South Carolina (7,902), Reading (6,724), Long Beach (5,009) and Idaho (5,231) had their third largest crowds and Pensacola (5,159) and Las Vegas (7,007) had their fourth-largest crowds of the season.

The back-to-back sellouts on Friday (5,016) and Saturday (5,231) in Idaho were the fifth and sixth sellout of the season for the defending Kelly Cup champions. The last two weekends have seen five sellout crowds in the ECHL, bringing to season total to 41 sellouts. Victoria has a league-leading nine sellouts while Alaska has eight and Idaho and Florida have six each. Augusta, Gwinnett, Reading and Toledo each have two sellouts while Columbia, Las Vegas, Long Beach, Louisiana, Trenton and Wheeling have one sellout.

Florida, which will play its final two home games on Friday and Saturday, leads the league in total attendance (209,488) and average attendance (6,161) and is looking to finish atop the league in total and average attendance for the fifth consecutive season. Gwinnett, which hosts Charlotte on Tuesday and will host Augusta on Friday, is second in total attendance (207,504) and average attendance (6,103), up more than 21 percent from its inaugural season in 2003-04. San Diego, which hosts Idaho on Wednesday and Victoria on Friday and Saturday, is third in average attendance with 5,602 per game, up more than 11 percent from the team's expansion season in 2003-04. Reading, which hosts Peoria on Tuesday and Toledo on Thursday, is third in total attendance with 185,829 and fourth in average attendance with 5,465 per game, an increase from last season, while Bakersfield, which will host Idaho on Friday and Saturday, is fifth in total attendance with 180,675 and average attendance with 5,313, up more than 17 percent from the team's expansion season in 2003-04.

Long Beach finishes the season averaging 3,057 per game, up more than 16 percent from the team's expansion season in 2003-04.
