
Neilson Named ECHL In Glas Co Player Of The Week

Pensacola, FL - The Pensacola Ice Pilots are proud to announce that defenseman Corey Neilson has been named the In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week for the week of March 28th April 3rd.
Neilson scored 6 goals (4 power play goals and 2 game winning goals) and picked up one assist for 7 points in three games played last week helping the Ice Pilots clinch the Brabham Cup Championship. Neilson scored two game winning goals with wins at home vs. Texas and Mississippi and picked up his first career hat trick against the Sea Wolves.
Neilson has played in 69 games for the Ice Pilots this season scoring 18 goals, 43 assists for 61 points and has picked up 77 penalty minutes. Neilson has scored 5 game winning goals and 10 power play goals. He is the top scoring defenseman in the league with 61 points.
Neilson is in his second season with the Ice Pilots as he represented the Ice Pilots for the second year in a row in the ECHL All-Star game as a starter. He was named the ECHL's Defenseman of the Year last year and also made First Team All-ECHL last season. Neilson was selected by the Edmonton Oilers in the third round and was the 53rd player taken overall in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft.
Saturday night's final home game of the regular season vs. Mississippi at 7:05 p.m. is sponsored by Sam's Club and the Children's Miracle Network. Fans can purchase $15 or $13 tickets for the game at Sam's Club as a portion of the proceeds of ticket sales will go to the Children's Miracle Network. Fans can contact Gary Schonour at 484-7508.
The Brabham Cup will be presented to the Ice Pilots right before Saturday's final home game of the regular season for winning the ECHL regular season championship with the most points in the league.
The Brabham Cup will be on the display during the game and fans will have the opportunity to take pictures of the Brabham Cup by bringing their own camera. Fans will have the opportunity to purchase commemorative special Brabham Cup t-shirts. The t-shirts will have the name of the players on the back. It is a one time special only with the Brabham Cup t-shirts as only 1,000 will be made and will be sold only at Saturday's game. Fans will be able to get the t-shirts autographed after the game as the players will be signing autographs.
Also, all Ice Pilots merchandise will be discounted 40 percent at Saturday night's game only (Brabham Cup t-shirts not included). A jersey auction will also take place after the game on the Ice Pilots home and away game worn jerseys. Fans who win the jerseys will be able to receive them once the Kelly Cup Playoffs are over.
Every fan who attends the game on Saturday will receive a voucher for a one year subscription to the Sporting News magazine. The grand prize of $2,500 for the Florida Lottery Spin Off will be announced.
The Early Bird Renewal for season tickets is over. However, Ice Pilots owner Tim Kerr was very pleased with the response and there is a new plan being offered as long as the Ice Pilots play hockey through the Kelly Cup Playoffs. Fans can put down a $50 deposit and will not have to pay the rest of the balance until September 1st.
