FRESNO, Calif. - The ECHL has awarded the 2006 ECHL All-Star Game and Skills Competition to the Fresno Falcons. Presented by Bud Light, next season's All-Star festivities will be held on Jan. 24 and 25, 2006, at Save Mart Center. The ECHL Board of Governors unanimously approved the selection of Fresno at its Mid-Season meeting in January.

"The ECHL is delighted to award the 2006 ECHL All-Star Game and Skills Competition to Fresno, California," said ECHL Commissioner Brian McKenna. "The All-Star Classic has become the annual showcase event for the ECHL and the event continues to grow on an annual basis. The City of Fresno and Save Mart Center provide an outstanding community and venue to host the 2006 event."

"This is truly a great day for the Fresno Falcons organization," commented Falcons owner Charles Davenport. "It is because of the hard work and dedication of the entire Falcons organization that we have been selected by the ECHL to host the 2006 All-Star Game, and I cannot say enough about how excited I am at the prospect of being able to showcase our organization, Save Mart Center and the city of Fresno during this annual event."

Players from across the ECHL will be selected to compete for their respective conference at the two-day event at Save Mart Center. The Skills Competition, which will be held on Jan. 24, 2006, involves the players competing in six skill events, including the puck control relay, fastest skater, hardest shot, rapid fire shooting, accuracy shooting and breakaway relay.

The All-Star Game itself will then be held on Jan. 25, 2006, pitting the Falcons' own National Conference against the American Conference All-Stars. This season's ECHL All-Game, held in front of 6,746 fans at the Sovereign Center in Reading, Pa., featured a 6-2 victory for the National Conference. Fresno was represented by team captain and leading scorer Dan Tessier.

All-Star festivities also include a reception following the Skills Competition and a fan festival following the All-Star Game. The event annually brings hundreds of visitors from across the country with fans and representatives from the ECHL, American Hockey League and National Hockey League descending upon the host city.

The 2005 ECHL All-Star Game was available on television in more than 40 million homes across North America, including 30 million live.
