
Falcons Drop Divisional Game To Wolf Pack

Springfield, Mass. - The Springfield Falcons (31-14-1-4) were defeated by the Hartford Wolf Pack by the final score of 5-2 Friday night at the MassMutual Center, falling for only the second time in eight meetings with the division rival.
J.T. Miller registered four points (two goals, two assists) for the Wolf Pack, notching an extra-attacker goal on a delayed Springfield penalty at 14:33 of the first period and a shorthanded penalty shot tally at 6:57 of the third period. Miller now has 25 points (10 goals, 15 assists) in 22 games with Hartford this season.
Michael Chaput and Jonathan Marchessault had multi-point games for the Falcons. Chaput scored a power-play goal at 12:05 of the third period to bring the Falcons to within two goals at 4-2, and also assisted on the team's only other score. Marchessault added an assist on both of Springfield's goals.
Jean-Francois Jacques scored a power-play goal at 11:18 of the first period, giving the Falcons a 1-0 lead. The loss was only the team's third in regulation when scoring the first goal of the game. Springfield is now 22-3-0-2 in games when holding a 1-0 lead.
Ryan Bourque scored twice for Hartford, including an empty-netter with 1:09 remaining in regulation. Marek Hrivik scored the other Wolf Pack goal, his seventh of the season.
Springfield goaltender Mike McKenna had his three-game win streak halted, making 18 saves on 23 shots en route to his sixth loss of the season. The St. Louis native is now 13-6-0 this season.
Dov Grumet-Morris stopped 30 of 32 shots in net for Hartford, improving to 8-10-4 in 2013-14.
Both teams found success on the power play, each going 2-for-9 with the man advantage.
The Falcons continue their current home stand Saturday, February 15 when they host the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at 7:00 p.m. The team then hosts the Worcester Sharks Sunday, February 16 at 3:00 p.m.
