ATLANTIC CITY, NJ - Stefan Matteau and Reid Boucher both scored and Scott Wedgewood made 20 saves in the Albany Devils 3-2 shootout loss against the Hershey Bears Friday at Atlantic City's Boardwalk Hall. Albany moves to 25-16-3-5, while Hershey improves 27-17-3-3.

Albany led 2-1 in the third period until Hershey's Michael Latta scored off a rebound with 10:37 remaining. After the overtime, Boucher and Mattias Tedenby both hit posts and Matteau scored during the shootout. Ryan Stoa and Casey Wellman countered with goals.

Netminder Philipp Grubauer earned the win with 33 saves during regulation and overtime. Wedgewood's night included eight saves in the first, seven in the second, four in the third and one in overtime.

The Devils, which were playing their second of four games at Boardwalk Hall this season, struck first at 8:12 of the first period. Boucher netted his 12th tally with the help of Tim Sestito and Scott Timmins with the man advantage.

Before the end of the period, Hershey's Dane Byers connected with Matt Wilkins on an odd-man rush with 11.6 second on the clock.

Matteau broke the 1-1 tie at 15:34 of the middle frame. The 19-year-old's centering attempt to Mike Hoeffel cutting in the slot redirected off a Hershey defenseman's skate and past goaltender Philipp Grubauer.

The tally was Matteau's ninth of the season. Timmins registered his second helper of the night and Hoeffel was credited with an assist as well.

Latta's game-tying goal followed with the help of Peter LeBlanc and Nicolas Deschamps.

Albany, which went 1-3 on the power play and 2-2 on the penalty kill, owned a 35-23 shot advantage.

Next up, the Devils host the Adirondack Phantoms at Times Union Center Saturday at 5 pm.
