Phoenix, AZ - The Las Vegas Wranglers (9-11-2, 20 points) were defeated by the Fresno Falcons (16-8-1, 33 points) 3-0 at Selland Arena on Thursday night. Fresno rookie goalie Joe Fallon stopped all 28 Las Vegas shots for his first pro shutout. Falcons' winger Jarrett Konkle scored twice and set up another goal to lead Fresno. Las Vegas will travel to Bakersfield for a game at 12:00 pm at Rabobank Arena on Saturday.
In the first period, Fresno scored the lone goal late in the opening period. Jarrett Konkle put in his own rebound for his eighth goal of the season at 17:02. Defenseman Kenny MacCauley set up the shorthanded goal, giving Fresno a 1-0 first period lead. The goal ended Las Vegas goalie Kevin Lalande's scoreless string against Fresno dating back to December 2nd at 88:13.
In the second period, Fresno continued to expand the lead with a pair of goals in the middle period. Konkle scored his second of the game at 6:50. Konkle beat Lalande with a wrist shot on the stick side for his ninth goal of the year and a 2-0 Falcons lead. With Mike Madill in the penalty box for the Wranglers, the Falcons tallied a power-play goal. Defenseman J.C. Sawyer scored his first goal of the season off a rebound at 18:58 for the 3-0 Fresno lead.
Las Vegas will conclude a five-game road trip in Bakersfield on Saturday at 12:00 pm at Rabobank Arena. The Wranglers return to host the Midnight game on Monday, December 15th at 11:59 PM.
