
Huddy, Wild Assigned From Springfield

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, the proud ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Edmonton Oilers and American Hockey League's Springfield Falcons, announced rookie defenseman Cody Wild and rookie center Ryan Huddy (HUH-dee) have been assigned to the Thunder from Springfield.
Huddy and Wild are scheduled to join the Thunder lineup on Friday against the Utah Grizzlies, starting at 6:05 p.m. (1420 KSTN / StocktonThunder.com) from The E-Center.
Huddy, 25, leads Thunder rookies and is tied for 8th in ECHL rookie scoring with 18 points (8g-10a) in 19 games. The Stony Plain, Alberta native has skated in three AHL for Springfield, led the Thunder for scoring in November with 17 points (8g-9a) in 13 games and finished runner-up for ECHL Rookie of the Month. The 5-9, 180-pound forward spent 2006-08 in the German Oberliga League with Peiting and Hannover, scoring 119 points (52g-67a) in 96 games.
Huddy, whose father Charlie is an assistant coach with Edmonton and played 17 years (1981-97) in the NHL as a defenseman with Edmonton, Los Angeles, St. Louis and Buffalo, is signed to a two-way AHL/ECHL contract and spent the 2008-09 NHL training camp period with the Oilers.
Wild, 21, has skated in 28 career AHL games for Springfield, scoring eight points (2g-6a) while amassing 28 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound defenseman was selected by the Oilers in the fifth round (140th overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft and has scored five points (1g-4a) in 15 AHL games this season, additionally posting 15 penalty minutes.
The Limestone, Maine native skated in 100 games during his three-year (2005-08) college hockey career at Providence College (NCAA), scoring 57 points (16g-41a) and posting 80 penalty minutes.
The Thunder was voted "Best Local Sports Team" by readers of San Joaquin Magazine, has led the ECHL in attendance for three consecutive seasons and drew 239,337 fans to Stockton Arena in 2007-08.
