
Gladiators Schedule Altered

Atlanta Gladiators News Release
The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today a revised schedule due to the suspension of operations of the Augusta Lynx for the remainder of the 2008-09 season. All of the Gladiators remaining home game dates and times for the 2008-09 season are unchanged. A majority of the Gladiators schedule changes occurred to road games.
Gwinnett will see a different opponent at home for three different games during the remainder of the season. Gwinnett will now host Florida on December 27th as opposed to Charlotte as originally scheduled. The Everblades will make another trip to the Arena at Gwinnett Center on March 15th as the Gladiators were originally scheduled to host Augusta on that date.
The Gladiators will now see the South Carolina Stingrays on Monday, January 19th for the annual MLK/Kids Day game at the Arena at Gwinnett Center at 12:30 p.m. Augusta was originally scheduled to play Gwinnett on that date.
The Gladiators will no longer play the following seven road games on December 20th December 31st, January 6th, January 10th, January 16th, February 6th and February 13th.
Gwinnett has added seven road games to their schedule. On December 13th & December 14th Gwinnett will be at Mississippi. The Gladiators added a road game at Charlotte on December 19th and on February 6th. Gwinnett will play at Mississippi on February 18th. Gwinnett adds a road game at Charlotte on March 10th and another game at Florida on April 1st.
The remainder of the Gladiators schedule remains unchanged. The Gladiators will still play 72 games during the 2008-09 season with 36 home games at the Arena at Gwinnett Center and 36 road games.
The Gladiators return to action on Friday, December 12th as they host the Mississippi Sea Wolves at the Arena at Gwinnett Center at 7:35 p.m.
Began in 1988-89 with five teams playing in four states, the Premier 'AA' Hockey League has grown into a coast-to-coast league that will have 23 teams in 16 states and British Columbia playing 864 games from Oct. 17, 2008 to Apr. 4, 2009. Eighteen of the 23 teams have played at least five years in their current city.
The third-longest tenured professional hockey league behind only the National Hockey League and the American Hockey League, the ECHL averaged 4,174 per game last season, marking the fourth year in row and the 16th time in the last 18 years that the league has averaged over 4,000 fans. The league has drawn over four million fans each of the last five years and 11 times in the past 12 seasons.
