Fresno Falcons News Release
Fresno, Calif. - The Fresno Falcons acquired veteran centerman Terry Marchant from the Texas Wildcatters today in exchange for forward Paul Falco and future considerations. In addition, the Cleveland Barons, Fresno's American Hockey League affiliate, assigned rookie defenseman Scott Ford to the club.
Marchant, a seventh-year pro and former sixth round draft pick of the Edmonton Oilers in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft, arrives in Fresno having recorded 20 points (9g-11a) in 33 games for the Wildcatters. He began the season with the Augusta Lynx before getting traded to Texas in exchange for former Falcon Brian Passmore. Marchant attended Lake Superior State University before spending one season each in the American Hockey League and International Hockey League. Following a brief stint in the British SuperLeague in 2000-01, he has since totaled 205 points (74g-131a) in 261 games with six teams in the ECHL, including a career-best 68 points (21g-47a) with the Arkansas RiverBlades in 2002-03.
Falco leaves Fresno after recording eight points (3g-5a) in 22 games.
Ford is the third player Cleveland has assigned to the Falcons this season and the second currently on the team's roster, joining forward Glenn Olson. He has only appeared in one game for the Barons this year after completing a four-year college career at Brown University last season. The 6-3, 225 lb. defenseman posted 47 points (15g-32a) and 130 penalty minutes at Brown.
The Falcons return home tomorrow after a four-game road trip to Victoria and Alaska to face the Bakersfield Condors at Save Mart Center at 7 p.m. Tomorrow's tilt is a Carl's Jr. Two-for-Tuesday with two-for-one coupons for tickets to the game available at participating Carl's Jr. Restaurants. Regular-priced tickets are also now on sale for as low as $8 per seat and may be purchased directly at Save Mart Center's box office and all Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at 485-TIXS (8497) or online at www.ticketmaster.com.
