Round Rock Express News Release
OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma - The Round Rock Express (52-38) steamrolled the Oklahoma City Dodgers (38-51) in their series finale by a final score of 11-2 on Sunday afternoon at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. A dominant fifth inning in which Round Rock drove in eight runs fueled the team's success.
Round Rock RHP Brandon Bielak (3-3, 5.40) earned the win after a solid 6.0 inning start where he allowed only four hits and one run while fanning eight hitters. The E-Train derailed Dodgers starter RHP Dennis Santana (2-7, 7.47), who surrendered 10 earned runs on nine hits and three walks in a 3.2-inning outing.
The E-Train broke a scoreless tie in the third as C Garrett Stubbs singled prior to a walk from DH Jamie Ritchie. The next at-bat, 3B Josh Rojas hit into a fielder's choice that eliminated Ritchie at second. With runners on the corners, 2B Alex De Goti notched a single that plated Stubbs while Rojas hustled from first to home, beating the throw, and pushing Round Rock ahead of Oklahoma City 2-0.
With two outs in the fourth, Round Rock's offense exploded to put up eight runs. The frame consisted of six hits, including singles from CF Drew Ferguson, RF Chas McCormick and DH Jamie Ritchie, a Jack Mayfield double and a three-run Taylor Jones bomb. Round Rock also combined to work three walks to take a lopsided 10-0 lead over Oklahoma City.
The Dodgers only two runs came via home runs thanks to 1B Connor Joe in the fifth and 3B Brandon Montgomery in the seventh.
As icing on the cake, Jones doubled in a Rojas leadoff walk to cap the scoring on an 11-2 Express victory.
The E-Train now heads into the three-day Triple-A All-Star break while OF Kyle Tucker heads to El Paso to partake in the festivities. The Express All-Star is slated to compete in the Home Run Derby on Monday night before the Triple-A All-Star Game on Wednesday. Round Rock returns to Dell Diamond to open a four-game series against the Iowa Cubs (Chicago Cubs affiliate) on Thursday, June 11.
