
Express slides into first place

ROUND ROCK - For the second time this season, the Express took sole possession of first-place in the Pacific Coast League American Southern Division on Sunday.
After Albuquerque dropped its sixth straight game 7-6 in Nashville, Round Rock downed Omaha (Kansas City) 8-1 at The Dell Diamond, moving a half game ahead of the Isotopes with a 32-23 record. Albuquerque slipped to 33-25 overall.
Round Rock led the American Southern division for one day, defeating the Isotopes 8-4 on May 26 to grab a brief, half-game lead.
Luke Scott belted a pair of home runs Sunday, collecting three RBI and two runs to the lead the Express. Cody Ransom, Wade Robinson and Brooks Conrad each added two hits.
Mike Gallo worked a scoreless 1 2/3 innings, allowing one hit on one strikeout in his first relief appearance since joining Round Rock from the Houston Astros on May 2.
Cody Ransom and Wade Robinson put together back-to-back singles with one out in the third inning before Royce Huffman drove them in with his 15th double of the year, giving the Express a 2-0 lead.
Scott sent his 14th homer over the right-center field wall to start the fourth. Royals starter Ryan Baerlocher walked Alan Zinter and gave up a two-out double to Ransom before Robinson drove the pair in with a single to right.
Scott homered again in the seventh with one aboard to put Round Rock ahead 8-1.
The Express and Omaha square off again at 7:05 p.m. on Monday at the Dell Diamond for the third of a four-game series. The Express leads the season-series 8-1.
