
Sidewinders provide power in 11-1 win over Beavers

Tucson, AZ - The Sidewinders provided the power at Tucson Electric Park last night with a 11-1 win over the Portland Beavers. On the team's first game back, the electricity went out, but the bats did not falter as Tucson sent ten men to the plate in the fourth.
The scoring started early for Tucson when 2B Alberto Callaspo led off the first inning with a walk and then scored on a CF Chris Young homer to left. It was Young's 8th homer of the year and came on a 3-2 count.
The power went out at Tucson Electric Park during the bottom of the first and resulted in a 29 minute delay.
Tucson got another two run shot in the third inning off the bat of LF Scott Hairston. SS Stephen Drew singled to left on a groundball and came around to score when Hairston hit his 13th homer of the year to make the score 4-0.
The Sidewinders sent ten men to the plate in the fourth to put up a six spot. RHP Adam Bass led the inning off with a walk and moved to second on a Callaspo single. Young followed that up with a double to left-center, scoring Bass and putting runners on second and third. Drew knocked a run in on a sac fly. Hairston and 1B Chris Carter each walked to load the bases. 3B Brian Barden then doubled to left-center scoring two runs. RF Matt Erickson singled to left, scoring Carter from third. Hammock hit a sac fly to score Barden and make the score 10-0.
Portland managed a run in the sixth. 3B Justin Leone singled to left and moved to second on a 2B Bobby Hill single. On a fielding error by Carter, Leone scored.
RHP Adam Bass picked up his second victory for Tucson this year. He went seven innings and allowed only one run, unearned, on eight hits and three walks while striking out four batters. RHP Eric Junge dropped to 4-5 for Portland. He only went three innings and allowed seven earned runs on seven hits and five walks with three strikeouts.
The series continues tomorrow at 6:00. The game can be heard on Cool 1450-AM.
