Everblades Come From Behind to Defeat Gladiators 4-3 in Shootout

ESTERO, FL -  The Florida Everblades (2-1-0) picked up two big divisional points on Tuesday night at Germain Arena with a 4-3 shootout victory over the Gwinnett Gladiators (2-0-1).

Tom Reimann and Damian Surma each scored in the shootout for Florida, while 'Blades goaltender Rob Zepp stopped all four Gwinnett shooters he faced to help the Everblades to the victory.  After falling behind 3-1 midway through the second period, the Everblades put together a fierce rally to tie the game before the end of the middle stanza.  Ernie Hartlieb notched his first goal of season just 1:09 after Gwinnett opened a two-goal lead, and Brent McDonald scored his first of the year just 5:09 later at 17:59 to tie the game at three.

The Gladiators opened the 3-1 lead on second period goals by Brett Englehardt and Cam Brown.  The goal was Englehardt's second of the night after he opened the scoring at 5:22 of the first period.  Matt Pagnutti tied the game at one for Florida at 14:47 of the first period.

Zepp was solid in net all night, stopping 39 of 42 Gwinnett shots to earn the win.  Adam Berkhoel made several big saves for the Gladiators to earn the tie, and overall made 28 saves on the night.  The Everblades finished the night 0-for-4 on the power play, while Gwinnett was 2-for-4 on the man advantage.    

Florida takes on the Mississippi Sea Wolves on Friday night, October 29 at Germain Arena at 7:30 PM.  The game will be broadcast via the internet ONLY for this game.  You can access Friday night's game at  www.floridaeverblades.com, www.abc-7.com, and www.nbc-2.com  with the "Voice of the Everblades" Kevin Reiter calling the play-by-play.
